2006 1st edition. 8vo (160 x 240mm). Ppvi,122. B/w photographs, illustrations by "BB" (Denys Watkins-Pitchford). Cloth-backed pictorial boards.
When he died in October 1990 at the age of 85, Denys Watkins-Pitchford was generally recognised as the grand old man of English countryside writing. He wrote one of the greatest of all fishing books, he wrote about travel and about wildlife both from a shooting man's point of view and increasingly as a dedicated conservationist. "BB", the writer and professional artist is well known but less well known is "BB", the man. [This book recalls] "BB"'s own memories of his life as well as the memories of some of those who knew him. It is a memoir, an impressionistic portrait of a man who left a body of work - books, paintings and illustrations - that is unique.
