2006 1st edition. The Medlar Press. Ellesmere. Small square 8vo. Full-page colour photographs of fifty salmon flies, bibliography, pictorial laminated boards. New copy.
Notes: Since its foundation in 1873, Hardy has included hundreds of salmon flies in its annual Anglers' Guides. In this book Keith Harwood has chosen fifty patterns, which are representative of the history of the salmon fly and of Hardy's association with it. Included in this selection are some of the well-known classics such as the Jock Scott, Durham Ranger and Green Highlander, as well as some of the more recent hair wing patterns such as the Hairy Mary and General Practitioner. Also included are a number of patterns which graced the pages of the Anglers' Guides, but which are now largely forgotten. Most of the flies illustrated have been tied by the author especially for this book.
