Notes:
An account of Osa and Martin Johnson's four-year American expedition to the interior of Kenya in the years before the war. The purpose of the Johnsons' expedition was to take photographs and make films for sale in the USA. This demanded drama and often rather staged incidents which were all documented, even often including filming the film crew being charged at by a variety of large animals. "Martin had a car padded on all sides with old tyres and had Osa walk out in front to provoke the rhino to charge. It was a courageous thing to do, but all of their 83 attempts were unsuccesful". Hippo, buffalo, lions, leopards, various antelope species, gazelle, zebra, elephant and rhino. This is one title in Stackpole's Sister's of the Hunt series, reprinting the works of notable women big game hunters. They are accompanied by new, rather analytical, introductory essays by Mary Zeiss Stange.
