Discusses and draws heavily on La Chasse au Fusil by Magne de Marolles, but the author's "own contributions are fundamental and important and relate to the variations appropriate to the British Isles". Much plagiarised in the sixty years following publication. This reprint contains a new introduction by W.S.Curtis and two b/w plates of contemporary flintlock rifles.
