Notes:
Bibliotheca Accipitraria II is the first comprehensive updating of James Edmund Harting's falconry bibliography since 1891. Bibliotheca Accipitraria was the first descriptive catalogue of falconry, documenting the many elusive and rare falconry works that were necessary for any practitioner to learn the sport. It originally included works in 20 languages with 87 in English and has been indispensible for falconers, book collectors and book dealers over the last 120 years. Bibliotheca Accipitraria II has expanded to 615 individual citations of works published in English from 1486 to 2000 along with numerous references to hundreds of their reprints. John R. Swift has spent over twenty years discovering, researching, and reviewing each title, most of which are now to be found in the library of the American Archives of Falconry. Each citation contains specific bibliographic descriptions as well as anecdotal information about each book's subject and author. Bibliotheca Accipitraria II is over 500 pages with 80 illustrations depicting many of the rarest works on falconry. A lifelong collector of rare books on falconry himself, John R.Swift designed Bibliotheca Accipitraria II to aid future falconers and collectors in distinguishing between various editions as well as to identify the rarity and value of each work. This is the most comprehensive modern reference work on the literature of falconry.
