Notes:
This is a large and highly detailed manual covering the breeding of German Shorthaired Pointers. The author outlines the historical development of the breed, explaining how it assumed its modern form. The author deals in detail with the breed standards of Australia, Germany, the USA the United Kingdom and elsewhere which she compares with one another. A truly huge amount of information is given about individual dogs and their pedigrees, whilst many practical aspects of breeding are covered. Although Germany is obviously constantly referred to, the purpose of the book seems to be to document the world of the GSP outside Germany, providing a means of maintaining consistency and unity within the breed in its non-German incarnation. This copy is no. 584 of a limited edition (limitation unstated), numbered by the author on the half-title and inscribed "With best wishes - Georgina". A scarce title, essential reading for any serious GSP breeder.
