Notes: Compiled by the former editor of The Indian field, this is a pocket guide containing a description of all the important Indian quarry species. A description of each is given, with something of their habits. The book includes many lists of record trophies with dimensions, place and name of hunter. Chapters on big game; game destroyers; land game birds; water game birds; river sporting fish; estuarial sporting fish; tank (ie. reservoir) sporting fish; care of fishing tackle; camp equipment; guns, rifles and ammunition; list of dak bungalows; shikar wrinkles; snake bites and treatment; game laws and regulations. Essential books for the Indian sportsman are listed on p.331 and the publishers include a twelve-page list of sporting and natural history titles at the end of the book. The title-page has a small label saying "sixth edition", pasted over a printing error stating "seventh edition". *The sixth edition has a wallet incorporated into the rear paste-down. This contains a blue marbled, paperback game register, 26pp, sewn, cover pasted over the sewing.
