Notes: The information within this book, originally containing only black and white illustrations, was first published in the 2nd Annual Report of the Severn Wildfowl Trust, 1948-49. It was reprinted as a separate book in 1950. The first edition featuring coloured illustrations appeared in 1957 with substantial new material. This new edition has been revised yet further.
