ANGLING SCRAPBOOK 1867.
An 8vo (140 x 220mm) cloth-bound volume of cuttings relating to angling, dating from 1866 and 1867, pasted to both sides of blank leaves. 67 leaves (c.133 pages).
The first few cuttings are taken from the comic, Boys of England, but the majority seem to be from The Sporting Gazette. Articles and letters relating to W. Bailey, "Champion Angler;" numerous examples of the "Fishing Almanack and Weekly Register;" articles on "Practical Water Farming" by "Earne" (William Peard); "Angling Reminiscences of Ireland" by "Autochthon;" reviews of Francis's Book on Angling, Roberts's The River Side, and Seymour's Sketches. The whole interspersed with small engravings. One colour plate, "Perch, Shad and Barbel" pasted in.
