CARP IN NORTH AMERICA. Edited by Edwin L. Cooper.

1987 1st edition. Large 8vo paperback (177 x 255mm). Ppviii, 84. Colour and b/w photographs, illustrations, map.

The traditional view of carp in North America has been that it is inferior to the more desirable species such as bass and trout and is unworthy of angling attention. This book, published by the American Fisheries Society, offers an alternative view and aims to promote what they desribe as "North America's most widely distributed and underutilized fishery resource." Good introductory information on sport fishing along with bow hunting and spearfishing. Much of the book looks at carp as a food fish with advice and photographs on how to prepare your catch for the table along with suggested recipes (skip to page 62 for the carp sausages). Also much scientific information, with references, on biology, ecology and the viability of carp as a commercial resource. An interesting and alternative take on carp and carp fishing.
