An excellent book packed with useful information and great pictures. Loads of recipes for every species of fish, crustacean and mollusc you are likely to encounter in British waters, quite a bit on gathering and catching them first, lots on storing, salting, smoking, freezing, pickling and preserving, with much incidental opinion and advice worth taking notice of. The original British edition gives only metric measurements - this edition inserts American measurements in front of the metric figures. The two editions are otherwise identical, with the addition of a section of "Notes to the US edition, p590". This explains the exotic world of British home waters to US readers. It compares laws and regulations, discusses availability of the species under discussion and suggests close substitutes.
