NYMPH FISHING IN PRACTICE. By Oliver Kite.
(1963) 1977 reprint. 8vo (162 x 222mm). Pp191. B/w photographs, illustrations, maps, bibliography. Black boards, spine titled in gilt.
A real classic of chalkstream fishing for trout and grayling. Kite took the methods and ideas of Skues and Sawyer, explaining them in a lucid and popular way. He was a neighbour of Sawyer, who was a river-keeper on the Hampshire Avon, and spent two years learning the subject from him. In the first edition he acknowledges Sawyer as his mentor, but this acknowledgement was expunged from later editions.
