Jones, a London fishing-tackle dealer, commissioned Tolfrey, a sporting author, to provide the text. Jones's guide is noted for its extreme rarity, and for the excellence of its colour plates of salmon flies. A jewel in the crown of any classic salmon fly tying collection. This Flyfisher's Classic Library edition has a new introduction by David Burnett and epilogue by Frank Myhre Hansen. This is a fine second-hand copy of the de luxe edition with an actual fully dressed salmon fly mounted inside the front board. Fully bound in black leather with four raised bands, gold blocked FFCL motif and blind-ruled border to upper board, spine titled in gilt with gilt salmon fly motif, all edges gilt, silk marker ribbon and marbled end-papers. Presented in a fine silk-lined buckram book box titled in gilt.
