1984 1st edition. 4to (198 x 300mm). Pages not numbered (pp12 including paste-downs and end-papers). Colour illustrations throughout, four pop-up and two folding birds of prey. Pictorial laminated boards.
An attractively illustrated pop-up book with accompanying text, aimed at children, on the natural history of each bird featured. The folding kestrel on the final page is designed to be detached and flown and is therefore often missing from second-hand copies of this book. This copy however has retained it. "Here are the sky's most sensational conquerors reproduced in living color. Lifelike constructions feature the Golden Eagle (with a wing span here of sixteen inches), the Black Vulture (rising seven inches from the page), and a detachable kestrel that really flies. These and other birds are accompanied by fascinating commentaries describing their wonderful world above our own."
