NYMPH FISHING IN PRACTICE. By Oliver Kite. First edition reprint 1969.
(1963) 1969 reprint. 8vo (192 x 222mm). Pp191. B/w photographs, illustrations, maps, bibliography. Blue boards, spine titled in gilt.
A real classic of chalkstream fishing for trout and grayling. Kite took the methods and ideas of Skues and Sawyer, expaining them in a lucid and popular way. He was a neighbour of Sawyer, who was a river-keeper on the Hampshire Avon, and spent two years learning the subject from him. In the first edition he acknowledges Sawyer as his mentor, but this acknowledgement was expunged from later editions. The 1969 reprint is often referred to as "the ungrateful edition" because of this ommission.
