ONE RIVER: OR TROUT AND GRAYLING FISHING ON THE UPPER (SALISBURY) AVON. By Brigadier General H.E. Carey, C.M.G., D.S.O.

1952 1st edition - 1st issue. 4to (195 x 252mm). Pp112. B/w photograph plates, chapter-heading woodcuts by Kenneth Lindley, end-paper maps. Green cloth, spine titled in gilt*.

The record of a lifetime of fishing on the Upper Avon, with much on fishery management. "Packed with sound information which can be applied to any river on which it pays to use a dry fly." * The first issue in green cloth gilt with the correction slip pasted over the imprint details, altering the date of publication from 1951 to 1952. The first issue of this book, bound in green cloth with gilt lettering on the spine, bears an errata-slip changing the date of publication to 1952. It would appear that subsequently the remainder of the sheets were bound in a cheaper tan cloth with black lettering and that it was not thought worthwhile to sticker this cheaper "remainder issue." Hence, the earlier copies are dated 1952, while the later ones are dated 1951. The cheap edition did not include the end-paper maps of the Officer's Fishing Association water.
