The first three editions were published anonymously. The second and third editions have six engraved plates of views in additionto the three fly plates. These are omitted from the fourth edition which has extra vignettes of views. The author revised this before his death. The fourth edition was edited and enlarged by John Davy, his brother. Sir Humphry Davy was President of the Royal Society.
