The original (1866) was the first published work on salmon and trout in Tasmania. A contemporary review refered to it as "an inoffensive burlesque on the acclimatisation of the salmon". Barri Couta was the pen-name of Thomas Cook Just, and A. Trumpeter was Major Lloyd Hood.
