Westwood and Satchell list the 1875 edition (p38) entitled, Illustriertes Handbuch der Angelfischerei. Auf Grund der neuesten Erfahrungen in Deutschland, England und Amerika bearbeitet von M. von dem B[orne]. ...Berlin, Wiegandt, 1875". The subtitle translates as "revised on account of the newest experiences/discoveries in Germany, England and America, by M. von dem Borne". This Wiegandt edition of 1875 is not, therefore, the first edition. This book became the standard manual in the German-speaking countries, with numerous editions appearing at intervals, revised and updated by a variety of authors. The latest seems to be the 18th edition of 1998, revised by Armin Gollner. This 1922 sixth edition is a detailed and covers most inland species and most departments of the sport, although the sea-fishing chapter is rather cursory. Chapters include: Biographie Max v. d.
