* This set slightly used. Small hole in one page. Lacks part of spine-label of Volume II. A little wear and foxing. Nevertheless a strong clean tight set with the small ownership labels of angling book collector Alan John Jarvis. Volume II includes a title-page and Index, though these are not present in Volume I. "This magazine was originally published in monthly numbers, and 'by arrangement' ceased to exist when 'Land and Water' made its appearance. Many of the best angling writers contributed to it, and it was full of all kinds of fishing gossip and miscellaneous articles of interest to anglers" (Simpson). Serialised "The book of the pike" before its publication in book form. Volume I has 8 engraved plates of fish of which only the frontispiece (of a pike), is coloured. Volume II has 8 coloured plates of fish as well as several uncoloured plated of fishing tackle.
