Hudson, Rees's literary executor and compiler of this volume, begins, "Thomas Alfred Wesley Rees, the "Alfred Wellesley Rees" of Ianto The Fisherman and Creatures Of The Night, was born December 7th, 1872, at Pembroke Dock. His father... was an unpaid preacher among the Wesleyans". . . For his pen-name Rees, who later took orders in the Church of England, dropped the name of the great Methodist preacher and replaced it with that of the Duke of Wellington.
