Details

"Highly original and excellent, but some of the flies, such as Iron Blues, Blue Winged Olive and Grannon are omitted. Unfortunately, West, instead of accepting the well known entomological names of the insects described, invented an entirely new nomenclature. He believed that too many anglers devoted too much attention to Ephemeroptera and not nearly sufficient to other insects eaten by the trout. The five illustrations are the author's own work." (Hampton). A classic period piece for every fly-tyer and for all trout fishers with an interest in the development of fly-fishing entomology. This Flyfisher's Classic Library edition is based on the revised second edition of 1921. Edition limited to 750 numbered copies.
