THE NEW GAME BIRD: PALLAS'S SAND GROUSE (SYRRHAPTES PARADOXUS), ITS HISTORY, HABITS, FOOD AND MIGRATIONS; WITH HINTS AS TO ITS UTILITY AND A PLEA FOR ITS PRESERVATION. By W.B. Tegetmeier.
(1888) recent reprint. Stapled booklet. Ppii,24. Coloured frontipiece engraving.
The frontispiece is from the original edition of 1888. The new publisher, happening upon a small number of the original plates, reprinted the booklet to make use of these old and scarce engravings. The work relates to a series of nineteenth century irruptions of this native of the Steppes. It was hoped that Pallas's Sand Grouse might become acclimatised and offer a useful addition to our native fauna.
