A detailed account of a lavish expedition made, by land and sea, to the Scottish Highlands in 1786. Every day was spent in sport; coursing and shooting, hawking and fishing. Thornton employed an artist, George Garrard, who made numerous drawings and paintings, some of which were used to produce the engravings in the book.
