Further details on any particular point, and the reasons on which the instructions are founded, may be easily referred to, as the several paragraphs retain the same numbers as are given to them in the regular chapters. Recent great improvements in all that appertains to guns, has necessitated the substitution in the present edition of new remarks for many which were only applicable to a past period". Hutchinson's book, of which this is an excerpt, is most comprehensive 19th century work on the gundog.
