"This is the account of the life of an ordinary family forty to fifty years ago. It began as a book largely about angling but soon ...became a broader reminiscence ...of everyday happenings in the little hamlet of Orleton on the banks of the Teme in Worcestershire". This (first) edition includes an account of the author's childhood in Bournville, Birmingham, in the early years of the Twentieth Century. There were two issues of dust-wrapper, the second one carrying reviews on the rear flap. This edition does not include the fifteen poems by the author which are included in the 1989 2nd edition.
