FALCONRY: NOTES ON THE FALCONIDAE USED IN INDIA IN FALCONRY. By Lieut-Col. E. Delme Radcliffe, Late 88th Connaught Rangers.

(1871) 1971 revised edition. 16mo (108 x 166mm). Ppiv,38. Frontispiece portrait photograph, 2 full-page line drawings by Mary Browning. Stiff card covers.

"Col. Radcliffe's book has some very interesting information and gives one an insight into the period when quite a number of Army Officers stationed in India were flying hawks". "This small pamphlet of 38pp. contains much practical information derived by the author from personal experience in India. It is a reprint of three articles, with the same title, which appeared in The Field of July 22, Aug. 5, and Aug. 26, 1871". (Harting). The first edition is extremely scarce owing to its small and fragile nature. This second edition has the additions of a foreword by Phillip Glasier, a preface by the author's grandson, Peter Delme-Radcliffe, a frontispiece portrait photograph of the author and two black and white illustrations by Mary Browning. One thousand copies were printed and bound in stiff card covers following an initial print run of just twenty-five copies bound in green cloth.
