Short biographies of twenty famous fly dressers; Mackintosh, Ronalds, Ogden, Wright, Rogan, Marryat, Halford, Gordon, Skues, Lunn, Woolley, Austin, Dunne, Leisenring, Jennings, Flick, Sawyer, Hidy, Kite and Jacobsen. The first issue has the colour photographs printed on two sides, not four, and two of them are inverted, the top of the pages are stained mauve. The later re-issue (still stating "First published 1972"), has the photographs on four sides and printed the right way up, and there are slight changes to the wording of the title-page and plate list. The top of the book-block is plain.
