Entertaining tales, mostly of trout fishing. Caine died on holiday in Belgium in 1925. The present work was put together by the author's widow, Mrs. Gordon Caine, after his death in 1925. Mrs. Caine died in 1927. "He had written a number of novels which displayed him as a humourist of rare gifts, but he had never done anything better than (An Angler At Large) which is one of the choicest volumes in the library... Mrs. Caine published a posthumous volume of his fishing sketches, Fish, Fishing And Fishermen, with a preface by Guy C. Pollock... she herself died suddenly before the end of the year." (Where To Fish 1930).
