# "Derrick Davenport was born on the 15th of June 1921. He caught his first fish at about 2 years of age in a penny net, a three spined stickleback. At the time it was the most wondrous thing that existed and he rushed home with the obligatory jam-jar to show his Dad. At that moment a love was born, a love that persisted when other loves, throughout a long life, have died or mellowed. Since that day Derrick has travelled the world catching specimen fish of many species but is always happy to return home to his beloved Hampshire Avon where he enjoys nothing more than float fishing with 'pin and cane.'
