Fascinating histories of dozens of fishing huts, incidentally providing an insight into the many rivers and lochs by which they stand. "Along the river of Scotland, England and Wales, from the manicured Test to the wildest Hebridean bogland" the author finds fishing huts "of every description - old, new, large, small, elaborate, primitive, grand, simple -including that holy of fishermen's holies, Izaak Walton's Temple, built beside the River Dove in Derbyshire in 1674, and FM Halford's hut on the Hampshire Test, built in 1906." A good read with many lovely pictures of one of the more idionsyncratic byways of British architecture.
