1885 1st edition. 8vo (145 x 224mm). Ppviii,238 + 16pp publisher's catalogue at rear. Illustrated with 32 full-page illustrations on tinted paper. Ornately decorated red cloth, printed in black and gilt, hunting image in gilt on upper board and the same image blind-stamped on lower board, bevelled edges.

This, the first annual volume, contains 33 articles on sport: racing; hunting; coaching; deer stalking; game bird shooting; curling and angling. The angling chapters include: "Thames Trout Fishing" by J.P. Wheeldon; "Trout And Salmon Fishing" by 'Rockwood'; "A Bare-faced Case Of Poaching" by 'Scramo'; and "A Queer Day On Loch Leven" by R.M. Alexander. This quarterly magazine was initially sold in wrappers, but each year was also published as a hardbound book in a uniform decorative cloth binding. This, the first such volume was published in 1885, and the last was in 1911.
