FROM HOBO TO HUNTER. The autobiography of C.T. Stoneham. 11 half-tone illustrations.
1956 1st edition. 8vo (135 x 211mm). Pp222. B/w photographs plates. Library binding - Red boards, blue ex-libris stamp to upper board, spine titled in blue.
C.T. Stoneham wrote a novel called Game Track and Rifle, in which family tragedy and ensuing poverty cause Clifford Denley to leave his minor public school early in search of work, travelling to Kenya in search of employment as a professional hunter. From Hobo to Hunter is Stoneham's autobiography which covers very similar ground, although the real-life Stoneham went to Africa via Canada, where he failed utterly to improve his lot. A great read.
