GRAYLING FISHING. By William Carter Platts. Re-issue of Flyfisher's Classic Library Edition. Hardbound in dust-wrapper.

(1939) 2009 new edition (2014 re-issue). 8vo (160 x 240mm). Ppxxii,210 + 1pp ad. B/w photograph plates and illustrations. Blue boards, spine titled in gilt.

Originally published in 1939 when William Carter Platts was 75 years old, Grayling Fishing was written partly to redress the balance, as he saw it, that despite a great interest from anglers in this fish, no books had been written on the subject for over thirty years; and partly as a result of a lifetime's affection for 'the lady of the stream.' He covers the subject in much detail, from its history, origins and habitat to tackle and bait selection and its presence in the kitchen, and not only covers grayling in this country but a chapter is dedicated to the species in America. A fascinating and comprehensive treatise on fishing for grayling by a passionate angler and writer. This edition has a new scholarly and informative Introduction by John Austin. This printing was limited to 500 copies for the Flyfisher's Classic Library, only 200 copies of which were actually bound. The remaining 300 copies have been issued in 2014 in a new dust-wrapper.
