1904 1st edition. 8vo (140 x 209mm). Ppxvi,350. Two b/w plates by Florence H. Laverock and 4 photogravure plates. Green decorative cloth gilt, top edge gilt.

Romanticised tales of salmon and trout fishing, as well as of poaching, in Wales at the end of the nineteenth century. J.K. Hudson, Rees's literary executor, provides a Memoir to "The Heron of Castle Creek" and says "Thomas Alfred Wesley Rees, the 'Alfred Wellesley Rees' of Ianto The Fisherman and Creatures Of The Night, was born December 7th, 1872, at Pembroke Dock. His father... was an unpaid preacher among the Wesleyans". . . For his pen-name Rees, who later took orders in the Church of England, dropped the name of the great Methodist preacher and replaced it with that of the Duke of Wellington.
