JESS MILLER'S 100 TRUE OR FALSE FISHING STORIES: A SEMI-AUTOBIOGRAPHICAL ACCOUNT OF FISHING HAPPENINGS AND HUMOUR! By Jess Miller.

(2012) ND later reprint. 8vo paperback (152 x 228mm). Pp131. B/w photographs, b/w cartoon illustrations.

"Jess Miller fished Atlantic salmon on Scotland's River Tay from 1958, keeping a record of his fishing happenings from which he created this book and competition in support of Atlantic salmon conservation. He worked on the Tay District Advisory Committee and had a hand in the removal of 17 netting stations from the Tay estuary, saving millions of salmon over time." "A glimpse of the past, when the Tay had truly huge fish! Characters and old friends really brought to life, with a real feeling of being a bystander watching it all happen." John Buckland in A Guide to Salmon Flies. "My imagination ran riot the same as the singing reels in the stories. A difficult book to put down, great fun, very entertaining." Paul Zissler. Ten of the hundred stories in this collection are untrue. A fine book in the George Leonard Herter tradition. A small bibliographical note - earlier printings of this book were produced in a smaller format with a slightly different title, had the words "Review Copy" printed on the front end-paper and featured a Coch-y-Bonddu Books advert on page vii as well as numerous other minor differences. However, as they are all print-on-demand the notion of first edition or first printing is all a bit meaningless.
