KARPFEN: ENGLISCHE METHODEN IN DEUTSCHEN GEWAESSERN. By Vincent Kluwe-Yorck.

1993 1st edition. Pp255. Colour and b/w photographs, illustrations. Dust-wrapper illustration by Chris Turnbull. Laminated boards, issued in dust-wrapper.

This is a detailed introduction to the English carp scene, for German anglers. The first 200 pages consist of questions on technique, rigs and so forth, and the detailed answers given by such luminaries as Martyn Page, Andy Little, Jim Gibbinson, Rob Maylin and others. The material is not arranged as interviews. One question is given in each section, followed by one answer each from a number of anglers. This is a very readable approach which avoids the meandering of interviews, retaining a conversational feeling whilst sticking rigidly to the point at hand. The final fifty pages gives short articles alphabetically, explaining tackle and terminology. Includes an excellent bibliography of British carp books, aimed at introducing the German angler to the literature. This is a great book which achieves exactly what it sets out to. It is scarce and deservedly collectable in its home territory. Text in German. *This author's presentation copy is inscribed "To Kevin Maddocks with best regards Vincent '93".
