(2005) 2006 1st trade edition. 8vo (160 x 237mm). Pp77. Coloured wood engravings by Gaylord Schanilec. Grey cloth, spine titled in gilt. Edition limited to 1,000 copies signed by the engraver.

Inspired by the wood engravings in Halford's Dry Fly Entomology, this book presents a series of coloured wood engravings made by Gaylord Schanilec, from mayflies collected by himself from various rivers of Wisconsin. Each highly accurate and detailed picture is accompanied by an identification key and authoritative discussion provided by Professor Clarke Garry of the University of Wisconsin - River Falls. Recommended imitations are also given with each entry. The engravings are printed from end-grain maple plates, whilst the text of the book is printed from hand-set metal type, designed and set up by the engraver. This edition is limited to 1,000 copies, signed by the engraver. A practical and informative work with good plates of many American species of mayfly.
