Wide ranging reminiscences of the artist, covering hawks and hawking, woodland and marsh birds, sea-birds of Shetland and the birds of Scotland's moorlands. Two different plates are used for the tipped-on illustration on the front of the dust-wrapper. Some copies have a painting of a red kite and nest, while others have one of a sea eagle mobbed by hooded crows.
