"MERMAID" FISHING FLIES.
ND (1940). Small 8vo booklet (122 x 187mm). Pp32. 16 full-page colour plates picturing 343 fly patterns.
This was not a priced sales list (though it does list patterns and ranges available from Ogden Smiths), but a catalogue intended for reference. It seems likely that this was the first edition of the booklet subsequently reprinted with the title The Flyfisher's Illustrated Reference Book. It makes two references to the war, stating that while they still had an enormous stock of standard patterns (including "large consignments made in our Croydon works for our overseas trade, but which could not be exported on account of the Board of Trade restrictions"), production of their own "Special Patterns" had been interrupted.
