NEEKA THE KESTREL. Written and illustrated by David Rook.
ND (1967) 1st edition. 4to (208 x 260mm). Ppiv,65. B/w illustrations by the author, pictorial end-papers. Grey boards, spine titled in gilt.
The author took Neeka, a lesser kestrel, as an eyass from a nest in Spain, brought him back to Britain, trained and flew him. Well illustrated. No publication date is given, however at the bottom of the half-title page is printed "By the same author, The White Colt, published by Hodder and Stoughton 1967," suggesting this book was printed at a similar time. An American edition was published in 1968 by Walker and Company, New York, but also carried a copyright date of 1967. This would further suggest that the British edition was published in 1967.
