SEARCHING FOR THE WILD: A BOWHUNTER IN AFRICA. By Mark Siedschlag.
ND Special Edition. 8vo paperback (152 x 228mm). Ppv,158. B/w photographs by the author, b/w illustrations by Erika Siedschlag.
Mark Siedschlag grew up reading Hemingway, Ruark, and Fred Bear. Hemingway's Green Hills of Africa decide him that he was going big game hunting in Rhodesia too. It took decades to make this happen and in this book, the author describes how it turned out when he finally mounted expeditions to what was by then Zimbabwe, in 1999, 2001, and 2003. Kudu, impala, bush pig, wildebeest, and zebra stalking, all the while avoiding elephants. The book includes numerous interesting observations of contemporary life in the country. A book which has received only limited circulation, but is well worth reading.
