THE FLOATING FLY. By Malcolm Greenhalgh.

SPINNERS. By Sylvester Nemes. With entomological assistance by Dr. Daniel Gustafson, Research Scientist, Biology Department, Montana State University.

# 1995 1st edition. 8vo (155 x 235mm). Ppvi,153. Colour plates, illustrations, bibliography. Dark red boards, spine titled in gilt.

# "The first book on fly fishing which deals solely with the subject of adult mayflies ...their dates of appearance, their molting and mating habits and their colours, shapes and sizes." Based on more than three years of collecting and study in Montana, Michigan, Idaho and the Yellowstone National Park, resulting in more than thirty new spinner fly patterns. "All the flies ...are quick and easy to tie from readily available materials and with a new winging method." Includes instructions for the author's dun/spinner combination fly and a set of 'double flies' consisting of a pair of small flies riding tandem on the same (larger) hook. Privately published by the author in 1995, it was reissued without change by Stackpole Books in 2007. I don't know whether Stackpole reprinted it, or simply distributed Nemes' original copies. Some Stackpole copies have a label on the back of the dust-wrapper.
