Volume One is a comprehensive work on game fishing with important sections on salmon fishing and the salmon fly by J.J. Hardy, dry fly fishing by F.M. Halford, and Norwegian salmon fishing by C.E. Radcliffe. A good and seldom-read chapter on sea-trout fishing by A.E. Gathorne Hardy, and another on grayling fishing by R.B. Marston. Volume Two is in three parts. The first includes chapters on tarpon by J. Turner-Turner, and mahseer by Hercules Ross. The second, on coarse fishing, has a number of chapters on pike fishing by A. Jardine, and on fishing for other species by R.B. Marston. The third section, on sea angling, is largely by F.G. Aflalo. The scientific chapters were contributed by G.A. Boulenger.
