THE PURSUIT OF WILD TROUT. By Mike Weaver.
1991 1st edition. 4to (192 x 252mm). Pp192. Colour plates of flies, colour and b/w photographs, further reading, photographic end-papers. Green boards, spine titled in gilt.
Opening with a discussion on the ecology and conservation of wild trout, the author then takes us through the tackle and techniques required to catch these fish. From reading the water and how that affects choice of fly to tackle, wading and watercraft, everything you need to know is covered. The latter half of the book deals with many of the waters where wild trout can be found. West country rivers such as the Teign, Tamar and Exe along with a variety of other British and Irish rivers such as the Derbyshire Wye, Afon Teifi and River Suir and Kerry mountains of Ireland are described in detail. The book finishes with the author recounting his trips to Pennsylvania and the Rocky Mountains in search of his quarry. A good book.
