A collection of three papers relating to salmon fisheries: 1. "The Salmon Fisheries of England, 1868" makes the case for reform, particularly to permit free passage for salmon to ascend rivers, (pp5-28), with an Appendix from the Reports of the Commissioners dated 1867. 2. "Cultivation of a Salmon Fishery, addressed to the President and Council of the International Congress to Promote the Cultivation of Fisheries, held at Arcachon, 1866." (pp39-80). 3. Extracts from an 1868 report, "American Salmon Fisheries," concerning the states of Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Massachusetts, and Connecticut, (pp81-90), together with an Appendix consisting of further extracts on "Artificial Breeding of Trout and Shad," legislation as to free passage of fish, and reports on the salmon fisheries of Norway and Russia.
