Thomas Bowness Wright was schoolmaster at Longdale School near Tebay in Westmorland and E.U. Savage, a local vicar, wrote a natural history column in the Westmorland Gazette. This book consists of a series of letters on natural history, on angling and in the English Lake District, from Wright to Savage and to Arthur Astley, Savage's successor on the newspaper. Wright was a keen angler and fly-tyer, made his own fishing tackle, and makes many references to trout and sea-trout fishing on the River Lune. This collection was published shortly after his death.
