This copy is dedicated by Arne Gabrielsen to Philip K. Crowe, US ambassador to Norway, and later Denmark, under president Nixon. Crowe spent part of the 1930s hunting big game in Indo-China which may account for his rapid rise from being a reporter at Life magazine to boss of OSS after the United States' entry into the war. Crowe had a fascinating and very high-powered career, parallel to which he pursued an interest in conservation, writing six books on the subject.
