ZAMBEZI TIGER: FLY FISHING FOR TIGER FISH ON THE UPPER ZAMBEZI RIVER WHERE FOUR COUNTRIES MEET. By Malcolm Meintjes.
1999 1st edition. 8vo (153 x 217mm). Pp48. Colour photographs. Pictorial laminated boards.
Based on Impalila Lodge near Kasane at the junction of the Chobe and Zambezi rivers, this is the best modern book on river flyfishing for African warm-water freshwater fish, especially tigerfish, nembwe and tilapia. I went there with this book in my pocket - following the advice of the author, I started fishing without a wire leader - the first three fish that took sliced through my line without me feeling a thing - then I put on a wire leader and started to hook (though not necessarily land) some tigerfish. I've caught lots since - all on wire leaders! Nonetheless a great introduction to African river flyfishing.
