"ZANDER including WHEN, WHERE, and HOW to catch zander; and the inside story of the zander controversy." Barrie Rickards and Neville Ficklings' very readable account of zander fishing and how to go about it - the first such book to be published in the UK. Although zander were first introduced in 1878, they did not flourish for many years and remained scarce. In 1963 "one hundred zander were released into the Great Ouse Relief Channel" and fingerling zander "caused a sensation in 1966/67 when they appeared in thousands." The authors probe the spread of the zander across Eastern England and discuss all aspects of its pursuit. Chapters include, river and drain zander - tackle, techniques, baits, where? when?; stillwater zander; controversy - 1978 one hundred years on, early days on the Relief Channel, spread of the zander, views of a zandophile; biology - zander in general, the European scene, British zander; facts, figures and fairy tales - zander records, the walleye, recipes.
